You’ve reduced the amount of stuff you buy, and you recycle what you can, but do you go that next step and make a point to buy products made from recycled materials? A little online research can lead you to find most anything you need or want made from other people’s recycled trash. Patio furniture is a good example.
Recycled patio furniture can certainly be made from reclaimed wood or with bits and pieces salvaged from retired patio furniture. But, recycled plastic is a better choice for outdoor furniture. Furniture made with recycled plastics, such as that which is produced by Poly-Wood, has exceptional resistance to corrosive substances, oil and fuels, insects, fungi, salt spray, and other environmental stresses. The furniture does not absorb moisture, so there is never a worry about rotting, splintering, or cracking. Poly-Wood’s recycled furniture pieces resist all harsh weather conditions, and they never need to be painted, stained, or water proofed. It doesn’t hurt, either, that this recycled patio furniture is stylish, sturdy, and comfortable.
Recycling your plastic bottles and containers is only one part of the process. Making the effort to buy products made from recycled materials is another crucial piece of the process that some consumers overlook. Luckily, it’s getting easier to find recycled products, like patio furniture, and the variety of products available is increasing. According to Earth911’s Plastic Recycling Facts, the plastics recycling business has grown significantly in the past few years. In fact, “more than 1,600 businesses are involved in recycling post-consumer plastics.” Using products made from recycled plastics ensures that a hefty chunk of those milk jugs, water bottles, and food containers from which we can’t seem to escape are put to good use.
If you are considering investing in new patio furniture for the fall, why not consider also doing something that is good for the environment? Recycled patio furniture is a great way to do both! Beautiful and durable, they are made with 90% recycled plastics and never with new petroleum products. You can choose from many different pieces, including tables, Adirondack chairs and benches, chaise lounges, and even foot stools. They are also available in a variety of colors to match any taste and style. This furniture is perfect for the beach, patio, or any outdoor location where you need to add some style. They are the perfect way to enjoy your outdoor environment, while also doing a small part to protect it! Is there a better way to relax?
I love keeping portable folding chairs in the trunk of my car because they so often come in handy. I use them at the park, the playground, and the soccer field. They are always welcome at picnics, barbecues, and on camping trips. I even have a special child-sized chair for my son. It’s portable, collapsible, easy to carry and store, and it even comes with a canopy top to keep the sun off of his sensitive skin. Kids appreciate a comfortable place to sit just as much as adults do. When their seat is just the right size, kids can feel extra special.
Are you and your family going to the beach this summer? If you are like me, you have already spent endless hours day dreaming about your trip. I already have most of my “equipment” ready to go, but I recently decided that we would get new beach chairs to take along with us. After you total the cost of renting a chair everyday, I knew that we would save money in the long run. Also, we can use the chairs year round for other activities.
I quickly discovered that there are some VERY cool chairs available! For example, the Beach Canopy Chair (pictured above) is a low profile, light weight chair perfect for digging your toes into the sand or letting the ocean waves wash over you. It has variable reclining positions and an adjustable canopy to shade you from the sun. It even comes with a carrying case which makes it perfect for beach travel. (There are children’s versions available, too!)
Another great chair is the Folding Sports Couch. This seat is big enough for two adults or three children and holds up to 500 pounds. It has two zippered pockets to store water, keys, sunglasses, etc. It has a strap for easy carrying, and it comes in four different colors. There are several other chairs that I am interested in at backyardcity.com. I am sure that they have the perfect one for you, too!
I challenge anyone to find a portable structure that is handier than a shade canopy. There is no apparent limit to the variety of ways that portable shade canopies can be put to use. Here are just a few:
- Set up a shade canopy along the sideline of your kid’s soccer games;
- Use it to enjoy a comfortable, impromptu picnic in the backyard;
- Keep it near the sandbox to provide the kids with extra shade as they play;
- Bring a portable shade canopy along to the beach and create your own personal cabana shelter;
- Set up merchandise tables under a shade canopy at your next garage sale;
- Instantly create a covered dining area on the deck or patio.
Portable shade canopies are economical and durable; they are simple to put up and fast to take down. Many come with their own tote bag, which makes for easy storage. I keep a portable shade canopy in the trunk of my car, and it never ceases to amaze me how often I find a use for it when our family is out and about. How do you use your portable shade canopy?
