How do I clean and maintain the Coolaroo ( Coolhaven / Party Sail / Premium ) HDPE sun sail fabric?

Use a leaf blower to blow off any leaves, acorns or other debris when visible. (Monthly) Use a garden hose to spray the shade sail and remove any loose dirt, dust, or debris. The breathable, knitted high-density polyethylene (HDPE) fabric allows water to pass through easily. For stubborn stuck on dirt, sap or grime, apply a mild dish soap or a gentle detergent mixed with water. Use a soft sponge, soft brush or cloth to gently scrub the affected areas, then rinse off all soap residue with the hose to prevent any buildup that could attract dirt over time. Always allow the fabric to fully dry after cleaning and before storing. Do not use any type of high pressure washer as it may damage the shade fabric.

Do not allow dirt to remain on the HDPE fabric. The fabric resists mold and midew quite well. But mold / mildew WILL grow on the dirt and its roots can then take hold and penetrate the HDPE fabric and discolor and/or damage the fabric.

This shade sail has proven to be quite durable in high winds. There a many customer reviews across the internet stating them withstanding winds of 60+ mph. This is true only when properly mounted and under correct tensioning, and well secured to sturdy anchor points. It is alway prudent and recommended to take down the sail(s) and store indoors when weather is forecasting for extreme winds especially in tropical storm / hurricane prone areas.

Proper installation requires strong, reliable anchor points and correct tension. Your anchor points, such as sturdy poles or existing structures, must be able to withstand significant force from wind. You should use marine-grade hardware, including turnbuckles, to pull the sail taut and adjust it as needed. If you are installing a waterproof sail, you must create a slope of at least 20 degrees to prevent rainwater from pooling.   The most common installation mistakes include:    Anchoring to weak structures like a wooden fence or insufficient  posts   Using inadequate or cheap hardware that can rust or fail.  Shade sail hardware needs to be stainless steel.   Not properly tensioning the sail causes the sail to be droopy and allows it to flap in the wind which stresses the fabric and stitching greatly reducing its lifespan.   With waterproof sails is installing them too flat. Even a small amount of rainwater can cause the fabric to sag, creating a deeper pocket that collects more water.
