What is the difference between hammocks with spreader bars and hammocks without spreader bars?
Spreader Bars "spread" the hammock weave open so that the full width of the hammock is easily accessible. One spreader bar is located at each end of the hammock bed. The spreader bars help to keep the hammock bed flat when you are lying in the hammock. Thus it is easier to get into and out of hammocks with spreader bars.
By contrast, hammocks without spreader bars more closely conform to the contours of your body while lying in them. For this reason, many people feel they are more comfortable than hammocks with spreader bars. However, these hammocks typically must be hung from higher supports to allow for the additional droop in the hammock. Additionally, some people may have more difficulty getting into and out of hammocks without spreaders.
