Care and Maintenance

This item is made of the finest materials, and will last a long time if properly cared for and maintained. Here are some maintenance tips:

d Place your furniture in a shady spot. With less direct sunlight, the varnish will last longer.

d During winter months or during long stretches of non-use, store the furniture in a dry place away from mice and bugs.

d Cumaru will hold varnish just fine, but the South American hardwood is so naturally tough, and when left unfinished, ages to a silver-gray color. This wood has been treated only with a mild conditioning oil. It is normally recommended to allow 24 hours for drying after refinishing, but cumaru is remarkable in part for being so hard and nonabsorbent, so it may take a while longer for the varnish to completely set.
